How we write, check and correct the information on this site.

Last updated: 7 November 2026

Our standards

  • Primary sources first. Rates and rules come from the Income Tax Ordinance 2001, Finance Acts, FBR rate cards and, for other taxes, the official notification. Where we could only confirm a figure from secondary sources, the page says so.
  • One set of numbers. Figures in our guides are produced by the same code as the calculators, so a guide and a calculator can't disagree.
  • Plain language. We write for people, not tax experts. We explain terms and cite the section of law so you can check it.
  • No guesswork. If the law is unclear or we haven't confirmed something, we leave it out or say it is unconfirmed.

How pages are written and checked

Drafts are written with the help of AI tools. Every rate, limit and example is then checked against the primary source, and the figures are calculated by our tested tax code, not typed in by hand. Each page is reviewed before it is published.

Each page shows the date it was last reviewed. Our sources and formulas are set out in how we calculate.

When we update pages

We review the site:

  • after the federal budget and Finance Act each June
  • when FBR or a provincial government issues a notification (SRO) that changes a rate
  • when a court decision changes how a tax applies
  • when a reader reports a possible error

Past tax years keep their original rates, so you can still check an old year accurately.

Corrections

If we get something wrong, we fix it quickly and openly. Report a possible error by emailing [email protected] with the page address and what you think is wrong. We check every report against the law. If a correction changes a result, we update the page and its last-reviewed date.

Independence and advertising

TaxCalculator.com.pk is independent and not connected to FBR, PTA or any government body. We don't accept payment to change a figure, a ranking or a recommendation. If we ever publish sponsored content or advertising, it will be clearly labelled as such and kept separate from our calculators and guides.
