How do I check if I am a filer?

Enter your CNIC in the check on this page for an instant answer from FBR's latest downloadable list; it runs on your device. To confirm, send an SMS with "ATL", a space and your 13-digit CNIC (no dashes) to 9966, or use the ATL status check on FBR's e-services site.

What is the Active Taxpayer List (ATL)?

FBR's list of people and businesses who filed their income tax return for the latest tax year. Banks, Excise departments and others check it to decide whether to charge filer or non-filer rates.

I filed my return. Why am I not on the ATL?

FBR adds filers to the list in its regular updates, so allow some time. If you filed after the due date, you are only added after paying the late-filing surcharge (Rs 25,000 for individuals) or giving the property undertaking.

How do companies and AOPs check ATL status?

Send "ATL", a space and the 7-digit NTN to 9966.

Is being on the ATL the same as having an NTN?

No. An NTN means you are registered with FBR. The ATL only lists people who have also filed the latest return.
