Questions about the Ufone tax certificate

Short answers about tax on phone and internet bills.

How to file a return

What is the Ufone tax certificate?

A statement of the advance income tax Ufone collected from you under section 236 during a tax year (15% of every recharge, bill and bundle). You use it to claim that tax in your income tax return.

Which period should I download?

The tax year you are filing for: 1 July to 30 June. For tax year 2026, choose 1 July 2025 to 30 June 2026.

Is the tax Ufone deducts refundable?

It is advance tax, adjustable against your income tax when you file your return. If your total tax deducted is more than your tax for the year, the return shows a refund.

Do filers pay less tax on phone bills?

No. The section 236 rate is the same for filers and non-filers, but only people who file a return can claim it back.
